Teneu (pronounced Ten-nu) was a sound work made with Rosie’s Disobedient commissioned for Glasgow International and made in collaboration with Cass Ezejii. The work is performed in a mix of English and Gaelic and has a full Gaelic transcript. Teneu is a narration of the city of Glasgow as told by the character of St Enoch (or Teneu as she is also known) who was the fabled mother of Glasgow and also one the city centres largest Shopping Centres. The work was an exploration in reviewing the landscape of the city at this point of change and cultural concern and used methods of improvisation and collage to perpetuate a process of collective writing.
